About The Position

Waterford Public Schools has a vacancy for a team-oriented individual. Waterford Public Schools is seeking a passionate, reliable, and positive Interim Girls Volleyball Coach at Waterford High School effective for the Fall 2026–2027 season. This temporary position will lead either our Junior Varsity (JV) or Freshman team, with the final placement determined by the candidate’s coaching experience, skill set, and organizational fit. As an interim coach, you will be responsible for fostering a competitive, supportive, and growth-oriented environment that prepares student-athletes for varsity-level play and instills life skills through sportsmanship. Waterford Public Schools serves approximately 2,400 students in grades PK-12. Requirements

  • CT Coaching Certification Required.
  • Ability to obtain or possess current CPR/First Aid/AED certification
  • Previous competitive volleyball experience (as a coach or high-level player).
  • Must be available for all weekday afternoon/evening practices and game schedules, including occasional weekend matches, for the duration of the Fall 2026 season.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and execute daily practices focused on fundamental skill development, volleyball IQ, and team strategy.
  • Coach all scheduled games, tournaments, and scrimmages, managing playing time and in-game adjustments effectively.
  • Provide constructive feedback to athletes to improve individual skills, rotational awareness, and physical conditioning.
  • Work closely with the Interim Varsity Head Coach to ensure alignment with the overall program philosophy, terminology, and defensive/offensive systems.
  • Ensure student-athlete safety at all times during practices, games, and transit.
  • Maintain inventory of team equipment and first-aid kits.
  • Maintain professional and timely communication with players, parents, the athletic director, and opposing coaches regarding schedules, expectations, and team rules.
  • Model and promote good sportsmanship, academic accountability, and the school’s code of conduct.
