About The Position

The Intercept program serves a broad population of youth and families, including those involved with multiple child-serving systems and those at high risk of removal from their families. The program specializes in diverting youth from out of home placements by helping their families safely maintain youth in their home environment. This position manages program operations by focusing on effective planning and marketing, quality of services, effectiveness of staff, customer relations, interviewing and hiring, implementation of training, implementation of quality management and employee recognition and motivation. This position may assist in activities related to program growth and securing ongoing funding to sustain the program.

Requirements

  • Five years of experience partnering with youth and/or families within the context of social services or education required.
  • Demonstrated skills in using alternative, community-based services for high-risk youth and families to decrease out of home placements.
  • Demonstrated competence in providing services to culturally diverse populations.
  • Expertise in strength-based programming, crisis intervention, family systems theory, multi-systems care coordination, and case management.
  • Demonstrated skill in fiscal management activities, team building, and development.
  • Strong knowledge of and genuine respect for youth and adults with mental health issues and a firm commitment to empowering their families.
  • Strong communication and writing skills.
  • Highly organized, detail oriented.
  • Must possess valid driver’s license in state where work is performed and auto insurance.
  • Demonstrated ability to: Work effectively with internal and external individuals, including other professionals in the community.
  • Demonstrated ability to: Work effectively as a member of a team.
  • Demonstrated ability to: Effectively communicate to various internal and external audiences in both person and through various electronic media.
  • Demonstrated ability to: Manage time and work effectively with minimal supervision.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in human services, business, or a related field with experience.
  • Current license as Clinical Social Worker, Marriage and Family Therapist, Mental Health Counselor or similar preferred.
  • At least one year of experience working with an evidenced based practice model is preferred.
  • Bilingual skills (especially Spanish) a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures ongoing local programmatic excellence, rigorous program evaluation, and consistent quality of finance and administration, fundraising, communications, and systems; recommend timelines and resources needed to achieve the strategic goals.
  • Carries out and provides direction on strategic plan implementation processes with Executive Team and staff.
  • Hires leads, coaches, and develops a high performing team.
  • Provides direction to supervisors in the form of answers to problems and advice with staff performance and youth issues.
  • Assists in establishing performance goals for the division and monitor progress.
  • Performs scheduled evaluations and conducts regular supervision for all direct reports.
  • Participates in annual operational budget process and manages effectively within said budget.
  • Accurately reports on progress made and challenges encountered if not on target.
  • Establishes work schedule for direct reports and fills in during absence or vacant position.
  • Conducts final interviews of division applications in the region.
  • Maintains effective relationships model consultant and key constituents.
  • Provides skill specific coaching, modeling, and training to Intercept Supervisors.
  • Demonstrates skill with hiring, and training staff members.
  • Provides at a minimum weekly supervision to support fidelity to the program model.
  • Effectively evaluates Supervisor performance and provides feedback to support and strengthen performance and improve outcomes for families.
  • Represents Choices in the community in professional manner.
  • Actively engages and participates with model consultants.
  • Provides for coverage of families when Intercept Supervisors are unavailable including on-call crisis rotation.
  • Monitors and manages progress of professional development goals for Intercept Supervisors.
  • Provides direct support to and ensures parent and family involvement is maintained throughout the service period.
  • Leads the development and cultivation of relationships with identified referral and partnering agencies.
  • Effectively addresses and resolves complaints arising from consumers or community partners.
  • Ensures staff adhere to all Choices’ policy and procedures.
  • Leads a continuous quality improvement process throughout the program and service areas.
  • Ensures effective implementation of systems to track progress, regularly evaluate program components, and measures outcomes that can be effectively communicated to Choices.
  • Actively represents Choices in national, state and local forums/events to promote the organization and develop new opportunities/partnerships.
  • Works with other staff members and associates to analyze funding opportunities, to promote Choices work and reputation, and to otherwise apply the skills and capacity of Choices staff and projects to current policy and programs.
  • Represents Choices values and follows Choices Guiding Principles within the community at all times.
  • Demonstrates an ability and enthusiasm for collaborative, strengths-based projects with demonstrable outcomes.
