About The Position

This position involves using a strengths-based model of community case management with families whose child has come to the attention of the juvenile justice system. The officer will engage and assist families in navigating the juvenile justice and social services systems, build and sustain successful relationships, involve families in the juvenile justice process, and reduce barriers to promote the youth’s successful rehabilitation and reintegration. The role includes assessing needs, developing plans to reduce youth's risk of future law violations, and conducting home, school, and community-based program visits. Collaboration with families, court personnel, and service providers is essential. The officer will facilitate evidence-based programs targeting specific needs such as anger control, family functioning, pro-social thinking skills, development of appropriate leisure activities, and job skills development. Responsibilities also include assisting in transporting family and youth to services, entering and verifying information in state systems, and preparing reports for court meetings and hearings.

Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice, Sociology, Psychology, or a closely related field; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Working knowledge of the juvenile justice system.
Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
Valid Driver’s License.
Must pass a post offer criminal history background check, physical examination and drug screen.
Must submit proof of identity and employment eligibility.

Nice To Haves

Knowledge of supervisory principles and court systems is preferred.
Bilingual in Spanish is preferred, but not required.
