About The Position

Integrity Engineer at Plains, you strengthen the safety, reliability, and regulatory compliance of Plains’ pipeline and facility assets across the United States. Working out of our Houston head office and reporting to the Manager, Integrity, you serve as a trusted partner to Operations, Engineering, and Regulatory teams while also representing Plains with agencies and industry groups such as DOT/PHMSA, the Texas Railroad Commission, API, AOPL, and PRCI. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required; Chemical or Mechanical preferred.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in areas such as DOT/PHMSA regulatory interpretation, inline inspection and threat assessment, pipeline inspection/testing, or pipeline design and fabrication.
  • Strong understanding of facility equipment reliability, risk‑based integrity management, and related regulatory expectations.
  • Ability to perform advanced integrity activities including pressure‑cycling analysis, IMP audits, failure analysis, incident investigation, fitness‑for‑service evaluations, and corrosion assessments.
  • Strong written, verbal and communication skills.
  • Effective collaborator who can navigate sensitive or challenging situations with professionalism.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and lead the development of procedures, processes, and tools that improve efficiency.
  • Ability to travel up to 10% to field locations and Operations Control in Midland, Texas
  • Cleared criminal history (background) check and satisfactory reference checks
  • Compliance with the company’s Drug & Alcohol Policy, including pre‑employment testing
  • Valid state driver’s license and driving record acceptable to the company and its insurers
  • Authorized to work in the U.S. for the duration of employment; this position is not eligible for employment‑based visa sponsorship

Responsibilities

  • Support Plains’ Integrity Management Plan (IMP) with minimal supervision.
  • Serve as the primary integrity point of contact for an assigned Operations Division.
  • Provide engineering input on new‑construction pipelines and due‑diligence activities.
  • Conduct IMP and regulatory audits.
  • Collaborate across teams to remove barriers and advance integrity goals.
  • Stay current on pipeline regulations, industry standards, assessment methods, and repair practices.
  • Develop responses to agency requests, including special permits.
  • Build relationships with industry organizations and conduct annual vendor reviews.
  • Anticipate long‑term risks and help develop strategies to address them.
  • Interpret business partner needs and assess requirements for integrity projects.
  • Provide engineering support for integrity projects, including welding calculations, material selection, hydrostatic test pressure determination, MOP/MAOP calculations, and defect evaluations based on ILI results.
  • Identify integrity threats and determine appropriate preventive and mitigative measures, reassessment intervals, and assessment methods.
  • Analyze data to confirm progress on key initiatives and make timely, well‑supported decisions.
  • Solve moderately complex problems and bring forward innovative solutions.
  • Review integrity data to confirm progress on key initiatives.
