About The Position

As a Mechanical Engineer - Tube Integrity, you will perform Tube Integrity analytical calculations and evaluations using a variety of engineering tools and methods for Nuclear Power Plants and develop documentation related to these calculations and analyses. You will report to the Manager, Component Design and Management Programs. You will be located at our premiere licensed nuclear maintenance Westinghouse Waltz Mill Service Center in Madison, Pennsylvania. You can work in a hybrid capacity.

Requirements

  • BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering required or engineering discipline
  • Prior engineering experience with Nuclear Power Plants preferred.
  • We prefer completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam.
  • Technical Writing preferred but not mandatory
  • Capability to understand and interpret design documents including drawings and calculation summaries.

Responsibilities

  • Technical lead for development of steam generator tube degradation assessments before plant refueling outages to plan for anticipated flaws observed during steam generator tube eddy current inspections.
  • Develop design documentation for safety and non-safety related hardware; this includes manufacturing drawings, functional and design specifications, and qualification reports.
  • Perform operating experience research to determine applicability of identified types of material degradation to a specific plant.
  • Identify existing and potential degradation mechanisms on a plant-specific basis.
  • Calculate structural and condition monitoring limits (critical flaw length and depth) for anticipated types of material degradation.
  • Work with technical leads, project managers, and customers in the coordination of activities associated with assigned work scope.
  • Occasionally traveling to customer and manufacturing vendor sites to provide on-site support, deliver presentations, and aid in issue resolution.
  • Support plant refueling outages (both on-site and remotely) including stretches of 12-hour shift work and overnight work because of time sensitivity.
