About The Position

Mount Sinai Medical Center is seeking an Integrative Therapist to join their growing team. This role involves assessing patients' physical, emotional, and behavioral functioning and recommending appropriate therapeutic activities. The therapist will provide experiential and expressive therapeutic activities such as slow and restorative yoga, reiki, and aromatherapy to manage stress, anxiety, and pain. The position requires collaboration with other integrative therapists, music therapists, and support staff, as well as close work with a multidisciplinary team to understand patient needs and develop care plans. The therapist will also educate patients and caregivers, facilitate workshops, and interact with providers to support patients throughout their cancer journey. This role is part of the MS Cancer Center Support Services.

Requirements

  • Current and valid License or Certification in Integrative Therapy, Reiki, Aromatherapy, Restorative/Slow Yoga, or equivalent.
  • Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Science/Exercise Science or in a Healthcare Field.
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience in Integrative Therapy, Reiki, Yoga, Meditation & Mindfulness, or equivalent.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience as an Instructor, Health Coach, or Program Facilitator.

Responsibilities

  • Assesses patient's physical, emotional, and behavioral functioning and recommends appropriate therapeutic and individualized activities.
  • Provides experiential and expressive therapeutic activities (e.g., slow and restorative yoga, reiki, aromatherapy, exercises for strengthening and pain relief).
  • Conducts individual and group sessions in collaboration with other integrative therapists, music therapy, and support services staff.
  • Works closely with the multidisciplinary team to understand patient needs, learning abilities, barriers to care, and cultural beliefs to create a plan of care.
  • Tailors assessment tools to identify and address unique risks or opportunities, and documents all findings and activities in patient's medical records.
  • Provides education materials and tools to patients and caregivers, establishing a schedule for continued activities or exercises.
  • Educates patients and their support systems on their rights and preferences to ensure participation in decision-making.
  • Facilitates workshops or group sessions on special events such as monthly cancer awareness events, survivorship programs, and therapy sessions.
  • Interacts with providers and members of the multidisciplinary team to support patients and caregivers.
  • Reports all patient incidents to Director/AVP as it occurs.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
