SpaceX was founded under the belief that a future where humanity is out exploring the stars is fundamentally more exciting than one where we are not. Today SpaceX is actively developing the technologies to make this possible, with the ultimate goal of enabling human life on Mars. This role involves processing Falcon 9 flight vehicles to achieve rapid and reliable rocket re-use, integration, and launch. The engineer will develop and execute procedures for checking out and integrating new and flight-proven rockets and ground support equipment. They will also assist with and lead hands-on assembly, integration, and testing of vehicle assemblies. A key part of the role is leading critical on-site operations, collaborating with engineering staff from various departments and locations to resolve issues and ensure flight readiness. The engineer will partner with and direct skilled field technicians daily, and design/develop tools and hardware for vehicle assembly and testing. Identifying and mitigating high-risk processes during flight hardware processing, leading root cause and corrective action investigations, and refining manufacturing assembly procedures based on lessons learned are also core responsibilities. Managing work orders and driving non-conformances into actionable improvements is expected.
