About The Position

As an Integration Specialist, you will play a senior role in shaping how the Council’s systems integrate and exchange data across a complex and evolving digital environment. Working in our Data team, and with Systems Engineers, and delivery teams, you will ensure integrations are well‑designed, clearly understood, and fit for both delivery and long‑term operation. This role is focused on end‑to‑end integration analysis and design. You will translate business and operational workflows into clear, build‑ready integration designs, ensuring data flows, dependencies, sequencing, and failure scenarios are identified and understood before development begins. Your work will help reduce delivery risk, improve system reliability, and ensure integrations align with platform direction, data governance, and security requirements. You will support integration delivery through UAT, migration, reconciliation, and early post‑go‑live stabilisation, validating that implemented solutions reflect the intended design and behave as expected in real‑world conditions. While this role does not primarily build integration code, it plays a critical role in ensuring what is delivered is correct, supportable, and ready to transition into business‑as‑usual. As an experienced specialist within the Data & GIS function, you will also contribute to improving integration practices across the organisation, supporting shared patterns, documentation, and ways of working that strengthen interoperability, resilience, and confidence in the Council’s digital ecosystem. This role is fixed term for a period of 2 years.

Requirements

  • Significant experience (typically 5+ years) in system integration, integration analysis, technical business analysis, or architecture‑adjacent roles.
  • Proven experience analysing and designing end‑to‑end integrations across APIs, file‑based exchanges (e.g. CSV, XML, JSON), and database‑driven data flows.
  • A strong understanding of integration patterns, dependencies, and common failure modes, and how these affect delivery and operational outcomes.
  • The ability to translate business and operational needs into clear, practical integration designs that development teams can confidently implement.
  • Experience supporting integration delivery through testing, migration, and transition into BAU, including investigation of integration or data quality issues.
  • Strong SQL and relational database skills, with the ability to understand schemas and trace data lineage.
  • Code literacy — comfortable reading and reasoning about services and APIs (e.g. C#/.NET or similar), without needing to be the primary developer.
  • A sound understanding of data governance, security, privacy, and regulatory considerations as they relate to integration design.
  • Well‑developed communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the confidence to work constructively across technical and non‑technical teams.
  • A pragmatic, proactive approach, with the ability to identify risk early and challenge assumptions where needed.

Nice To Haves

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field is advantageous, but equivalent senior‑level industry experience is equally valued.
