Integration Manager

Vanderlande•Atlanta, GA

About The Position

Vanderlande is a global leader in logistics process automation, providing automated material-handling systems for airports, warehouses, and parcel operations. The position is described in the posting as a System Integration Engineer responsible for translating customer requirements into effective, reliable, and cost-efficient system solutions. The role coordinates integration planning, risk management, testing, and validation so subsystems operate seamlessly within existing customer environments. Working with Solution Architects, Integration Engineers, suppliers, customers, and other engineering disciplines, the role oversees project progress and ensures systems are tested and handed over according to specifications. It supports a smooth transition into customer operational processes by monitoring progress, planning resources, solving or escalating technical issues, and maintaining effective partnerships with stakeholders. The role requires routine travel of approximately 50%, with more travel as project needs require, and occasional after-hours on-call support. The work includes both office and factory or construction environments and has stated physical requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Computer, or Software Engineering, or an equivalent qualification; alternatively, at least 3 years of experience implementing material-handling or industrial controls systems, or at least 1 year of experience with PLC applications.
  • Strong analytical, system-level thinking, and problem-solving skills, including the ability to prioritize activities, research solutions, and balance quality, lead time, cost, and risk.
  • Experience with system integration processes, including requirements management, verification and validation, change management, and configuration management.
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
  • A proactive and pragmatic approach, with the ability to build partnerships, motivate stakeholders, and take responsibility for project completion.
  • Willingness and ability to travel approximately 50% routinely, with increased travel as project requirements demand.
  • Availability for occasional after-hours on-call support.
  • Ability to climb a two-story ladder, walk one mile in 20 minutes, lift up to 30 pounds, and work for up to 10 hours standing, sitting, walking, or climbing stairs.
  • Comfort working in office and factory or construction environments.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with customer processes and operational requirements in warehouse automation.
  • Solid understanding of networking principles and computer hardware selection and setup.
  • Programming experience in SQL, Visual Basic, C, C++, C#, or equivalent programming languages.
  • Strong understanding of industrial controls and PLC programming, preferably Allen-Bradley; Siemens experience is also valuable.

Responsibilities

  • Manage functional design activities, translating customer requirements into appropriate system solutions.
  • Recommend standard solutions where possible and assess the impact of customized solutions, including operational impacts for customers and stakeholders.
  • Identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Develop system integration plans, test plans, and test specifications with Solution Architects, Integration Engineers, and project engineering teams.
  • Coordinate subsystem integration with existing customer systems and manage integration testing activities.
  • Manage supplier verification and validation to ensure components meet defined requirements.
  • Monitor project progress and provide clear, concise status reports.
  • Plan resources for the integration scope and coordinate with engineering disciplines and suppliers.
  • Manage punch lists and oversee completion of outstanding tasks to support project milestones.
  • Ensure systems are thoroughly tested and handed over according to specifications.
  • Coordinate transition into customer operational processes and resolve or escalate technical issues.
  • Maintain effective partnerships with customers, internal teams, and external suppliers.

Benefits

  • Opportunities to contribute to complex automation and system integration projects.
  • A collaborative engineering environment focused on innovation, quality, and continuous improvement.
  • Opportunities to work closely with customers, suppliers, and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Professional development through hands-on project experience and exposure to advanced material-handling technologies.
