Integration Lead

Serverfarm

About The Position

Serverfarm is developing the next InCommand, a new solution built on a new technology stack for operating modern data centers, including high-density and AI infrastructure. The product will be delivered as a cloud service and be deployable in customers’ own environments. It is API-first and developed with an agent-assisted engineering practice, with coding agents working from specifications under human review. Serverfarm’s facilities will be the first customer, so the product is proven in live operations before broader deployment. The Integration Lead owns the discipline of reliably bringing data from data-center sites into the product, including data from power, cooling, IT equipment, and building systems using varied protocols. This is a clean-sheet design supported by access to live data centers and experienced colleagues. The role partners closely with Architecture, Product Management, and Developer Platform, and leads and manages a small integrations team that is expected to grow as the number of sites increases.

Requirements

  • At least 8 years of experience in software or controls engineering, including at least 3 years leading integrations for industrial IoT, building automation, DCIM, or similar operational-technology products.
  • Experience integrating data-center equipment using protocols such as BACnet/IP, Modbus TCP and RTU, SNMP, OPC UA, Redfish or IPMI, and MQTT, including interpreting vendors’ register maps.
  • Experience designing and shipping collector or agent software that runs at the edge across a fleet of sites, with store-and-forward, remote configuration and upgrades, and secure outbound-only connectivity using TLS, mutual TLS, and certificate management.
  • Experience building point mapping and normalization at scale, with discovery, templates, and validation, and improving site onboarding speed.
  • Experience delivering site data through MQTT brokers such as EMQX or HiveMQ and Kafka-compatible streaming such as Kafka or Redpanda, and landing data in time-series storage such as TimescaleDB or InfluxDB.
  • Experience packaging and operating edge software in containers such as Docker or k3s, with fleet or device management across many sites.
  • Experience writing adapters, mapping tooling, and automation in Python.
  • Experience building telemetry-health monitoring for data flow, gaps, and staleness using OpenTelemetry, Grafana, or equivalent.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience building on industrial edge or SCADA platforms such as Ignition, Node-RED, or Telegraf, and deciding when to build versus buy at the edge.
  • Experience modeling building and equipment data with Project Haystack or Brick Schema, or using MQTT Sparkplug B.
  • Experience applying operational-technology security standards such as IEC 62443 and OT/IT network segmentation.
  • Experience with data-center electrical and mechanical systems, including switchgear, UPS, PDUs and busways, chillers and CRAHs, and liquid cooling, and the data they produce.
  • Experience leading the evaluation and migration of a telemetry or monitoring platform.
  • Experience leading or managing a small team of engineers.

Responsibilities

  • Design and own the edge collector, including store-and-forward, buffering, configuration, fleet upgrades, and secure outbound-only connectivity across OT and IT network boundaries.
  • Define the site-data contract with Architecture and own the collector side of that contract.
  • Build or select protocol adapters for building automation, power and cooling systems, IT equipment, and monitoring gateways, with a conformance test for each.
  • Own point mapping and normalization into the unified asset, power, and cooling model, including templates, discovery, bulk mapping, and validation of site data before it goes live.
  • Automate site onboarding so a new site can be brought live in days rather than weeks, and measure progress by the time required to onboard the next site.
  • Make telemetry health visible and owned by tracking data flow, gaps, and staleness, and providing corresponding alerts.
  • Assess the telemetry stack currently in use and recommend its future.
  • Partner closely with Architecture, Product Management, and Developer Platform.
  • Lead and manage a small integrations team that grows as sites multiply.

Benefits

  • Paid time off
  • Paid holidays
  • 401k
  • Full coverage medical, dental, and vision
  • Bonus as part of the compensation package
