About The Position

This position is responsible for implementing and maintaining the District’s Integrated Pest Management (IPM) program to ensure a safe and healthy environment for students and staff. The technician will identify, monitor, and manage pests and diseases in District facilities and grounds, utilizing a variety of methods including biological, cultural, and chemical controls as appropriate. This role requires adherence to all safety regulations and District policies regarding pesticide use and environmental protection.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in pest control or a related field.
  • Valid Nevada Pesticide Applicator License (Category 7B - Industrial, Institutional, Structural, and Health Related Pest Control) or ability to obtain within six months of employment.
  • Valid Nevada Driver's License.
  • Knowledge of IPM principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of pesticide application techniques and safety procedures.
  • Ability to identify common pests and diseases affecting buildings and landscapes.
  • Ability to operate and maintain pest control equipment.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Entomology, Horticulture, Agriculture, or a related field.
  • Experience working in a school district or public institution.
  • Additional pesticide applicator licenses or certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Implement and maintain the District's Integrated Pest Management (IPM) program.
  • Identify, monitor, and manage pests and diseases in District facilities and grounds.
  • Apply pesticides and other pest control materials according to label instructions and District policies.
  • Maintain accurate records of pest control activities, including types of pests, methods used, and materials applied.
  • Inspect District facilities and grounds for potential pest problems and recommend preventative measures.
  • Calibrate and maintain pest control equipment.
  • Train and advise District staff on IPM practices and pest identification.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations regarding pesticide use and safety.
  • Respond to pest-related complaints and concerns from students, staff, and the public.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and training related to IPM and pest control.
