About The Position

This position is for a teacher at St. Andrews Consolidated within the Strait Regional Centre for Education (SRCE). The SRCE is part of the public education system in Nova Scotia, established to support student learning, achievement, well-being, and overall success. The SRCE operates 20 schools with approximately 5,948 students and serves about 375 children in pre-primary programs across 14 locations. The jurisdiction covers the counties of Antigonish, Guysborough, Inverness, and Richmond in northeastern Nova Scotia. Teachers hired or recalled into new positions may be required to participate in New Teacher training if they have not already done so. Applicants who apply for more than one position must rank their application in order of preference. Permanent contract teachers, second-year probationary teachers, and teachers with recall status must apply using their Internal Profile to ensure their seniority is recognized. External applicants may also apply if qualified. All employees must provide a current, clear Criminal Record Check with a Vulnerable Sector Search and Child Abuse Registry prior to employment.

Requirements

Valid teacher certification for the Province of Nova Scotia.
Methodology courses, experience, or practicum teaching in the subject area(s) at the appropriate level for the competition.
Excellent classroom and student management skills.
Knowledge and experience in the application of technologies used to enhance instruction and learning.
Knowledge and/or experience in implementing inclusive teaching and assessment strategies.
Knowledge of inter-disciplinary planning is a requirement.
Knowledge of Grades P--3 Streamlined Curriculum.
Application must include at least three (3) work-related references, one must be your most recent supervisor.
All candidates short listed for interview will have references checked prior to being interviewed.
