About The Position

Responsible for providing integrative psychotherapy through the modality of using expressive arts therapy with individuals, children and families. Provides comprehensive integrative assessment and counseling support for mental, emotional, social and behavioral issues that arise for patients with chronic or life-threatening illness. Assists patients in learning effective tools to cope with stress, grief and loss, and to make healthy behavioral changes. Works in partnership with physicians, other health practitioners and administrative staff on care coordination and treatment planning, and is the principle team resource for all mental health matters. The position also collaborates with the other psychotherapists to implement and sustain best practices in the area of integrative psychotherapy and guided imagery, and to stay abreast of research and best practice in the field of behavioral health and integrative medicine. This role will be based embedded in a primary care clinic, providing short-term, solution-focused behavioral health care in 3-5 sessions.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in a Mental Health discipline.
  • LCSW-Licensed Clinical Social Worker OR LMFT-Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist OR PSY-Psychologist of California.
  • 2 years of recent relevant experience.
  • Biopsychosocial assessment and diagnosis across the lifespan.
  • Knowledge of behavioral health concerns related to chronic and life-threatening illness.
  • Proficiency in evidence-based, brief therapeutic interventions for integrated care (e.g., CBT-informed, motivational interviewing).
  • Ability to support health behavior change, stress management, and coping with grief and loss.
  • Strong collaboration skills within interdisciplinary healthcare teams.
  • Experience providing time-limited, goal-focused psychotherapy in medical settings.
  • Clinical risk assessment, crisis intervention, and safety planning skills.
  • Ability to develop culturally responsive treatment plans aligned with medical care goals.
  • Knowledge of the most recent Board of Behavioral Science requirements and adherence to them.
