The Intake Services Intern assists the International Rescue Committee’s intake team with daily activities that welcome refugees, asylees, and other humanitarian immigrants in the Baltimore metropolitan area and contribute to their self-sufficiency. The intake team is the first point of contact for new walk-in clients and returning IRC clients, and conducts eligibility assessments to identify client needs and refer them to relevant IRC programs. Interns meet directly with individuals and families to support intake assessments. The Spring 2027 internship is hybrid, combining work in a standard office environment, remote work, and field time within the greater Baltimore area. Interns must be able to come to the office at least three days per week and commit to a minimum of 15 hours per week for 14 weeks. The internship begins with required orientation on January 27, 2027, and continues through May 16, 2027. The internship is unpaid; university credit may be arranged. Eligible interns may receive a $15-per-day per diem reimbursement (based on a 7.5-hour day) toward food and travel, and may also be reimbursed for mileage for approved activities. IRC provides an organization-issued laptop for the duration of the internship.
