The Intake Services Intern assists the International Rescue Committee’s intake team with daily activities that welcome refugees, asylees, and other humanitarian immigrants in the Baltimore metropolitan area and contribute to their self-sufficiency. The intake team is the first point of contact for new walk-in clients and returning IRC clients, conducts eligibility assessments, and refers clients to relevant IRC programs. Interns meet directly with individuals and families to support intake assessments. The internship is hybrid, combining a standard office environment, remote work, and field time in the greater Baltimore area. Interns must be able to work at the office at least three days per week and commit to at least 15 hours weekly for 14 weeks, from the week of January 27, 2027, through May 16, 2027. A required orientation is scheduled for January 27, 2027, from approximately 9:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Interns receive an IRC laptop for remote and in-office work. The internship is unpaid, though university credit may be arranged. Spring 2027 interns are eligible for a $15-per-day per diem (with a day defined as 7.5 hours) to offset food and travel costs, and may be reimbursed for mileage for approved activities.
