About The Position

Hematology Oncology Associates was established in Palm Beach County over 35 years ago, and has grown to include 10 Board Certified Hematologist and Oncologists and 6 Nurse Practitioners in 3 convenient locations within our community. Our goals are to provide state of the art cancer treatments with a high level of compassionate care in a warm inviting environment. We also specialize in treatment of coagulation blood disorders, leukemias and other hematologic benign conditions. Requirements

  • Experience in a medical office setting.
  • Familiarity with EMR systems.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Understanding of insurance verification and pre-authorization processes.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience specifically in Hematology/Oncology.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills.

Responsibilities

  • Receive and review new patient referrals from physicians, hospitals, and other providers.
  • Contact patients to gather demographic, insurance, and medical history information.
  • Request and obtain prior medical records, pathology reports, imaging, and labs relevant to the patient's oncology or hematology diagnosis.
  • Ensure all required documents are received, organized, and uploaded into the EMR system before appointments.
  • Verify insurance coverage, obtain pre-authorizations, and inform patients of potential out-of-pocket costs.
  • Collaborate with billing and authorization teams to ensure a smooth approval process.
  • Schedule initial consultations and coordinate follow-up appointments as needed.
  • Act as a liaison between patients, providers, referring physicians, and clinical staff.
  • Communicate scheduling or documentation needs and provide ongoing updates to patients and providers.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient intake records.
  • Assist with phone coverage, document scanning, and other clerical duties as needed.
