About The Position

Student Accessibility Services (SAS) at Iowa State University is seeking an Intake Coordinator to join their team. This position, classified as a Student Services Specialist II, acts as a primary contact for SAS, managing communications from students, families, faculty, staff, and campus partners. The role involves supporting the intake and coordination of student requests, ensuring timely processing, accurate information sharing, and effective service coordination. Key attributes for this role include strong customer service, excellent organizational skills, sound judgment, and the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information. SAS assists students with documented disabilities by reviewing medical documentation to determine eligibility for accommodations in academics, housing, facilities, assistance animals, and dining.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of related experience
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an ongoing basis without sponsorship.

  • Experience working in a higher education environment; ideally in student services
  • Experience preparing reports, presentations, correspondence, and marketing materials
  • Experience with data management, recordkeeping, and tracking systems

Responsibilities

  • Conduct intake meetings with students and families to explain accommodation processes, eligibility requirements, and available services.
  • Review accommodation requests, medical documentation, and student records to support accommodation determinations.
  • Coordinate intake appointments and monitor student cases to ensure timely service delivery and follow-up.
  • Maintain accurate records and prepare reports to support case management and staff review.
  • Respond to inquiries and provide guidance to students, faculty, staff, and campus partners.
  • Support office operations, including front desk coverage and testing/accommodation services as needed.
  • Assist with coordination of student employees, staffing coverage, and assigned projects.
  • Manage shared communications and route inquiries to appropriate staff members.
  • Create and distribute newsletters and outreach communications to promote services and resources.
