About The Position

Lutheran Services Florida (LSF) envisions a world where children are safe, families are strong and communities are vibrant . LSF is looking for a talented Intake and Referral Specialist who wants to make an impact in the lives of others. Purpose & Impact: The Intake and Referral Specialist performs general administrative and office support functions to ensure the efficient operation of program services. The Intake/Referral Specialist helps other program operational staff in completing responsibilities related to intake/admissions and referrals. Must demonstrate cultural competency and sensitivity to all service populations, employees, and stakeholders. If working at a residential facility, this is a direct care position. Essential Functions: Answers Agency’s telephone to answer, screen, or forward calls, provide information, taking messages, or scheduling appointments in a professional and cordial manner. Assists program leadership and staff with organization and maintenance of complex department files and revises forms as requested. Assists program leadership with special assignments/projects, maintains daily census, monthly logs and prepares monthly reports. Greets and assists youth, families and other visitors to the agency if needed. Provides a comprehensive screening and assessment by telephone or in person to assess the child and family problems, risks and needs to determine if the child meets the criteria for agency programs or identify the most appropriate services for family. Responsible for conducting intake/admissions with youth and families entering residential programs. Responsible for data input and report compilation in records systems and databases. Assist community-based services in making truancy calls, tracking contact Information and family responses Assists with general administrative responsibilities as assigned (i.e., drafting correspondence, filing, copying, etc.) Attends mandatory trainings and meetings as necessary Other duties as assigned Other Functions: Performs all other duties as assigned. Must be willing to work a flexible schedule. Physical Requirements: Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment. Must be able to use telephone and computer over long periods of time and lift up to 10 lbs. Must be able to present a professional image over the telephone and in person.

Requirements

  • Must possess a High School Diploma or equivalency.
  • 1-3 years of progressive administrative office experience.
  • Must be familiar with Voice Mail system, have extensive knowledge of Windows applications such as Microsoft Word & Excel, must be competent in math and statistics, be able to maintain a filing system and have knowledge of general office operating, administrative procedures.
  • Must have knowledge of and use basic accounting principles.
  • Must have professional business writing experience.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to use telephone and computer over long periods of time and lift up to 10 lbs.
  • Must be able to present a professional image over the telephone and in person.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s degree or higher preferred.
  • Bi-lingual (Spanish) preferred.
