About The Position

The Insurance Verification & Authorization Specialist supports client access to care by ensuring accurate insurance verification and timely service authorizations. The role works closely with clinical and administrative teams to maintain current patient records, prevent billing delays, and ensure coverage aligns with service needs. The position verifies insurance eligibility and payer details, obtains and manages service authorizations, monitors service agreements, maintains authorization logs, and communicates status or potential coverage gaps to staff. It follows HIPAA guidelines and maintains confidentiality. The role has no supervisory responsibilities and does not require travel.

Requirements

Proficiency in computer software and ability to quickly learn new systems.
Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy.
Ability to work independently and collaborate across teams.
Ability to pass state-mandated background checks.
Physical capability to perform all essential job functions.
Ability to read, write, and speak English to communicate effectively with team members, clients, and visitors.

Nice To Haves

Prior medical experience and knowledge of insurance processes and payers.

Responsibilities

Confirm patient eligibility for services, enter appropriate payer details in the client’s chart, and notify the team of coverage changes or issues.
Secure service authorizations according to payer guidelines, ensure adequate visit approval, and upload documentation into the client’s chart.
Monitor and verify service agreements for accuracy.
Maintain logs and communicate authorization status clearly to staff.
Flag potential gaps in coverage.
Follow HIPAA guidelines and uphold confidentiality in all communications.
Perform other duties as assigned.
