About The Position

The Insurance Investigator 2 position with the Pennsylvania Insurance Department gives you the chance to help protect consumers while building strong investigative skills. Requirements

  • One year as an Insurance Investigator 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or Seven years of experience as an insurance investigator, underwriter, agent, broker or claims adjuster.
  • College level training may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for four years of the required experience; or An equivalent combination of experience and training.
  • Meet the PA residency requirement.
  • Be able to perform essential job functions.

Responsibilities

  • Investigate complex health and disability insurance complaints and prepare detailed notes and reports
  • Respond to telephone inquiries and provide clear information about insurance laws and industry trends
  • Complete case reviews and make informed decisions with periodic oversight from supervisors
  • Recognize patterns and promptly refer suspected violations to management
  • Attend consumer events, recovery centers, and formal hearings when required
  • Handle special assignments and projects to support division goals
