About The Position

The Lafayette, Louisiana office of Lewis Brisbois is seeking an attorney to join its Insurance Coverage Practice. The practice interprets insurance and other contracts and represents insurers in complex coverage claims, including through monitoring, mediations, arbitrations, and declaratory relief litigation in state and federal courts throughout the United States. The firm represents primary and excess insurers, reinsurers, third-party administrators, managing general agents, insurance brokers and agents, and independent adjustment companies across virtually every line of business. The firm is also interested in developing talented attorneys with strong litigation skills and a demonstrated interest in insurance law. This is an opportunity to join a growing, collaborative firm.

Requirements

Two to seven years of experience analyzing insurance coverage and preparing coverage opinions regarding first-party property and general liability matters is sought.
Litigation experience, including taking depositions, attending court hearings, and drafting and arguing motions.
Strong research and writing skills.
Admission to the Louisiana Bar is required.

Nice To Haves

Experience in insurance law.
Substantive litigation experience and a demonstrated interest in insurance law are welcomed for developing attorneys.
