This position oversees accounting, auditing, and managerial work in the examination of the financial conditions and operations of insurance companies. Our teams will rely on you to direct examination projects, support staff development, and ensure effective communication, collaboration, and compliance. As an Insurance Company Examination Manager, you will perform the following duties: Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor department staff examiners; provide training and technical assistance with difficult or sensitive work; and travel to visit examination sites, meet with insurance company personnel, and oversee examination staff progress Project Management: Organize teams and assign internal staff responsibilities; direct planning, scheduling, budgeting, and progress monitoring for examinations of all sizes and complexities Solvency Evaluation: Approve teams’ work plans; review and approve detailed assessments of each insurer’s current financial condition, prospective solvency, and recommended corrective measures; and ensure irregularities are investigated Quality Review: Examine and edit work papers and reports to verify accuracy, clarity, completeness, and compliance with all relevant laws, requirements, and standards; follow up on corrective action plans Collaboration Support: Help the Director coordinate examinations with other states to avoid duplication; prepare status reports; facilitate effective communications between the Department and insurers; and testify during legal proceedings
