About The Position

You are responsible for providing day-to-day clerical and insurance expertise to support the management of insurance underwriting information for the City’s integrated claims and insurance program. Maintains insurance schedules and related underwriting information, the City’s historical and current original insurance policies, resource files and underwriting material. Assists with the review and administration of insurance and indemnification requirements. Issues and distributes third party certificates of insurance and the annual distribution of insurance confirmation to various external third-party insurance clients. Assists with insurance program projects including the marketing of the insurance program and provides general clerical support.

Requirements

  • Completion of Grade 12
  • Five (5) years clerical experience
  • Two (2) years in an insurance related environment.
  • Knowledge of municipal and commercial insurance policies and practices
  • Knowledge of insurance brokerage environment and industry
  • Knowledge of contractual insurance and indemnification terminology
  • Proficiency in software applications including Word, Excel and Windows
  • Familiarity with the City’s Integrated Claims and Insurance program
  • Understanding of City operations, administration, organization, practices and political infrastructure
  • Knowledge of financial applications and processes
  • Familiarity with City records management systems
  • Familiarity with Risk Management information systems (RiskAssure)
  • Knowledge of applicable health and safety legislation, including the rights and duties of workers
  • Ability to prepare correspondence and complete forms
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to enter data with a high degree of accuracy
  • Understanding of the City’s organizational structure
  • Ability to deal with and maintain effective working relationships with multiple clients
  • Multi-tasking ability and strong organizational skills
