About The Position

As a co-op at Merus, you’ll apply what you’ve learned in the classroom through your teachings and coursework and apply it directly in a work environment. By the end of semester, with the hands-on experience you’ve acquired, you’ll be able to take those new learnings and harness them back into the classroom. Co-ops work directly along with the business units to help deliver and execute work results that our organization, clients, investors and fellow colleagues can be proud of.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in one of the following areas of concentration from an accredited College or University: Insurance and Risk Management, Enterprise Risk Management, Real Estate, Other related degrees supported by insurance, risk management, real estate development or construction-oriented course work or experience
  • Eager to apply knowledge and teachings learned in the classroom and employ it to a working environment
  • Able to maintain ownership on various tasks and responsibilities
  • Enthusiastic to dig the details

Responsibilities

  • Communicate and collaborate with internal team members to provide cross-functional support in areas of internal controls, risk management, and insurance.
  • Manage updates to and work within internal database systems related to insurance compliance, prequalification, contractor tiering and confirmation of executed contracts for subcontractors.
  • Assist accounting department with enterprise risk management initiatives and reporting.
  • Assist legal team in developing and reporting on insurance claims.
  • Communicate with insurance brokers for company’s insurance updates and coverage needs.
  • Assist risk manager with insurance renewal and application process for large property and casualty, management liability and professional liability insurance program.
