This role is for individuals who have a desire to meet new people, develop new contacts, and become known in their community. It's for those passionate about serving their community, who want to grow their sales, business, and networking skills to new heights, and who desire to control their own income. This opportunity is ideal for those who have wanted to start their own business but were deterred by extreme start-up costs. At Shelter, we do not require previous background in the insurance industry; while experience is a plus, it is not a necessity. Around half of our new Shelter Agents have never worked in insurance, coming from backgrounds such as real estate, retail sales, education, and coaching. A motivated attitude, an entrepreneurial spirit, and skilled capacity for effectively communicating with clients in a sales atmosphere are required. While some sales experience and a degree with general business courses are helpful, our comprehensive training programs help build the foundation necessary to launch your agency. Shelter does not require prospective agents to have capital/assets on hand or sell/loan agencies. We provide the opportunity, with expectations focused on meeting sufficient sales requirements and core business proficiencies. Financial responsibilities are limited to unsatisfied bills owed upon departure. A true business owner’s mindset is required to succeed. While developing prospects and selling Shelter products will be the main focus, there is an opportunity to bring on staff for administrative duties and sales support.
