About The Position

We are seeking an exceptional entrepreneur to make a difference in Bridgeton, MO and become our newest Shelter Insurance Agent. This role is for individuals who have a desire to meet new people, develop new contacts, and become known in their community. It's for those passionate about serving their community, wanting to grow their sales, business, and networking skills, and who desire to control their own income. This opportunity is ideal for those who have wanted to start their own business but were deterred by extreme start-up costs. Shelter does not require previous insurance industry background; backgrounds can range from real estate and retail sales to education and coaching. A motivated attitude, an entrepreneurial spirit, and skilled capacity for effectively communicating with clients in a sales atmosphere are required. While some sales experience and a degree with general business courses are helpful, new agent training schools (in-house and virtual) and continuing education courses help build the necessary foundation. Shelter does not require prospective agents to have capital/assets on hand, nor do they "sell" or "loan" money to agents to begin their business. The only expectations are that you meet sufficient sales requirements and core business proficiencies. If no longer a Shelter agent, financial responsibilities are limited to unsatisfied bills owed through departure (e.g., advertising contracts, telephone bills, utilities). A true business owner’s mindset is required to succeed. While developing prospects and selling Shelter products will be the main focus, there may be opportunities to bring on staff for administrative duties and sales support.
