About The Position

The Manager, SIAL Barbados is accountable for driving profitable growth, strengthening distribution capability, and ensuring effective governance of the insurance agency. The role leads the execution of Property & Casualty (P&C) and Creditor Insurance strategies through the Bank’s distribution network, delivering sustained revenue growth, strong customer outcomes, and full regulatory compliance. The incumbent operates as a business leader within a matrix environment, influencing Retail Banking, external insurance partners, and internal stakeholders to optimize performance and expand market presence.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or related field
  • 5–10 years’ experience in insurance, bancassurance, or financial services
  • Proven track record in sales leadership, distribution management, and revenue delivery
  • Strong knowledge of insurance products, underwriting, and regulatory frameworks
  • Experience working in matrix and multi-channel environments

Responsibilities

  • Accountable for achieving premium, revenue, and profitability targets across P&C and Creditor Insurance portfolios
  • Drives business development strategies to increase new business acquisition, cross-sell, and retention
  • Optimizes sales productivity, pipeline management, and conversion rates across branch and channel networks
  • Identifies and executes opportunities for market expansion, product penetration, and portfolio growth
  • Leads annual business planning, including target-setting, forecasting, and growth initiatives
  • Builds and sustains high-performing sales capability across Retail Banking channels
  • Designs and delivers structured training, coaching, and performance management programs
  • Drives adoption of needs-based selling, advisory practices, and sales tools
  • Acts as the insurance subject matter expert, providing technical leadership and guidance
  • Reinforces a culture of accountability, performance excellence, and customer focus
  • Leads performance management discipline through robust tracking of KPIs and financial outcomes
  • Ensures delivery of accurate, timely sales reporting, forecasts, and management insights
  • Uses data analytics to identify trends, performance gaps, and growth opportunities
  • Implements performance dashboards and productivity benchmarks
  • Provides strategic insights and recommendations to senior leadership and stakeholders

  • Leads go-to-market execution, including product launches, campaigns, and sales enablement

  • Ensures compliance with regulatory requirements, internal policies, and risk frameworks
  • Oversees adherence to sales practices, conduct standards, and customer suitability requirements
  • Leads management of audit activities, regulatory reporting, and third-party risk (TPRM)
  • Ensures effective handling of complaints, claims escalation, and operational risks
  • Promotes a strong risk culture aligned with AML/ATF, compliance, and conduct frameworks
  • Ensures efficient management of agency operations, financial controls, and reporting processes
  • Oversees premium processing, reconciliations, and financial administration
  • Manages relationships with insurance partners, ensuring effective service delivery and claims handling
  • Supports Board governance, including preparation and presentation of reports
  • Drives cost efficiency and profitability through effective expense management
  • Champions a customer-centric approach, ensuring high-quality advice and service
  • Drives improvements in customer satisfaction, retention, and lifetime value
  • Builds strong relationships across Retail Banking, Wealth, Commercial Banking, and external partners
  • Acts as primary liaison between the Bank and insurance providers and key stakeholders
  • Supports alignment of insurance strategies with broader banking objectives
  • Accountable for overall Creditor Insurance performance and outcomes
