About The Position

Turner Industries is a fully diversified industrial contractor that provides responsive, innovative solutions to increase plant production, reduce costs, reduce downtime, and prevent shutdowns in the petrochemical, refining, energy, pulp and paper, and related industries. The company is looking for an Insulator for maintenance work in the Lake Charles, LA area. This role involves covering boilers, pipes, tanks, and refrigeration units with insulating materials to manage heat, prevent moisture condensation, and deaden sound.

Requirements

• High school or equivalent
• One (1) to four (4) years of experience in specified skill (depending on mechanic level)
• Must have safety essentials
• Basic knowledge of Insulator hand tools, tape measure, cutting tools, power tools
• Post offer drug / alcohol screen, physical evaluation, and signed acceptance of the company Drug, Alcohol and Contraband Policy
• Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of others in the workplace

Nice To Haves

• NCCER certification may be required at some job sites

Responsibilities

• Covering boilers, pipes, tanks, and refrigeration units with insulating materials such as fiberglass, cork, plastic, and magnesia.
• Reducing heat loss or absorption.
• Preventing moisture condensation.
• Dampening sound.
• Wiring prefabricated fiberglass covering around steam and hot water piping.
• Troweling mastic or brushing cement on insulation for a smooth finish and covering piping with cloth.
• Fitting thermo-block and magnesia-block insulation around boilers, evaporators, and turbines.
• Wiring insulation on machinery and stapling wire netting over insulation.
• Troweling cement on wire netting to protect insulating material.
• Wiring cork on salt water, refrigeration, and air-conditioning piping and cementing cloth over insulating material for a smooth finish.
• Cutting sheets of insulation into sections.
• Fitting and cementing sections around fittings.
• Covering gas piping of refrigeration or air-conditioning systems with molded plastic.
• Fabricating detachable insulation for valves or similar fittings.
• Wiring detachable covers on valves or fittings.
• Installing fiber glass or spun glass on ventilation systems to deaden sound and prevent vibration.
• Complying with company and client job site safety requirements.
