About The Position

The Insulator is responsible for installing insulation materials on pressure vessels, piping systems, compressors, pumps, heat exchangers, and other mechanical components used in the manufacturing of Smardt chillers and related equipment. This role ensures insulation is accurately measured, cut, fitted, and installed to meet engineering specifications, quality standards, and production requirements while supporting product performance, energy efficiency, and appearance. The Insulator works closely with Manufacturing, Mechanical Assembly, Boiler Shop, Refrigeration, and Quality teams to ensure insulation activities are completed safely, efficiently, and according to production schedules.

Requirements

Previous experience in insulation installation, manufacturing, assembly, construction, HVAC, or industrial environments considered an asset.
Experience insulating piping systems, pressure vessels, refrigeration equipment, or industrial machinery.
Experience working in a manufacturing environment.
Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and equipment up to 50 lbs (23 kg).
Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and perform repetitive tasks throughout the workday.
Ability to safely use hand tools, cutting tools, adhesives, and insulation materials.
Ability to work in a manufacturing environment while wearing required PPE.
Ability to work overtime or shift work as required to support production needs.
High School Diploma or equivalent.
An equivalent combination of education and related experience may be considered.
Strong understanding of geometry, measurements, and spatial fitment.
Ability to accurately measure, cut, shape, and install insulation materials.
Knowledge of adhesives and installation techniques.
Good mechanical aptitude and manual dexterity.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Ability to adapt to changing priorities and production schedules.
A team-oriented mindset with a willingness to support production activities.
Ability to maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
Good written and verbal communication skills in English and/or French.

Responsibilities

Measure, cut, shape, and install insulation materials on pressure vessels, piping systems, compressors, pumps, and related equipment.
Apply insulation materials using approved adhesives, fastening systems, tapes, and installation methods.
Inspect insulation installations to verify fitment, workmanship, appearance, and compliance with specifications.
Ensure insulation is properly fitted around complex equipment, geometries and mechanical assemblies.
Trim and finish insulation materials to achieve a clean and professional appearance.
Handle, store, and use insulation materials, adhesives, and supplies in accordance with manufacturer's recommendations and safety requirements.
Maintain tools, equipment, and workstations in clean and organized conditions.
Support general production activities as required.
Assist with material preparation and movement of equipment and components.
Identify and report quality concerns, material shortages, equipment issues, or safety hazards.
Follow all company safety procedures, work instructions, and housekeeping standards.
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, efficiency, and workplace safety.
Perform other related duties as assigned
