About The Position

Cummins is seeking an Instrumentation Engineering Technician to join its Engineering team at its facility in Columbus, Indiana. The position supports the Emissions Technology Lab at CTC and involves hands-on maintenance, calibration, installation, programming, troubleshooting, repair, design, and fabrication of instrumentation and data acquisition systems, test cells, rigs, and related equipment. The technician maintains test systems and electronic engine monitoring systems; works with PCs and networks used for instrumentation engineering; evaluates equipment; fabricates test fixtures and servo-hydraulic systems; and works with hydraulic systems, shakers, transducers, strain gauges, and thermocouples. The role includes maintaining parts and equipment inventories and electronic records, interpreting electrical wiring diagrams, coordinating programs, supporting quality procedures, participating in improvement projects and audits, and working with or training apprentices and technicians. The technician also interfaces with customers, suppliers, engineers, and other functions, and follows company and department rules, safety procedures, and confidentiality requirements. Specific lab duties include performing hands-on maintenance, calibration, and installation of emissions benches, including Horiba MEXA-7K, Horiba MEXA-ONE, AVL Slimline, AVL 483, and FTIR systems. Work may include tearing down and servicing analyzers, gas-flow-path plumbing, orifices, and pumps; rebuilding pumps; cleaning sample lines; and performing 40 CFR Part 1065 verification checks to ensure regulatory compliance. The role also requires keeping emissions-bench records accurate and current in systems such as Maximo and IndySoft. This is a weeknight schedule, Monday through Thursday, four 10-hour shifts.
