About The Position

Amentum is a leading supplier of automotive test facilities, offering a full range of services to commercial automotive industry customers, including major vehicle providers, OEMs, and the international motor sports community. Our expertise covers various automotive test facilities such as climatic and driveability wind tunnels, aerodynamic, acoustic, and thermodynamic wind tunnels, emissions test rooms, soak rooms, altitude chambers, engine and powertrain test cells, and electromagnetic anechoic chambers. We are involved in the design, construction, operation, maintenance, and management of these facilities. This specific role is within a vehicle emissions testing facility in Allen Park, which utilizes numerous testing methods and data acquisition software to support and conduct a variety of Engine, Powertrain, and Durability Tests.

Requirements

High School Diploma required.
Minimum of two (2) years of related experience or vocational training.
Knowledge of Horiba gas analyzer calibration, and ability to read schematics/wiring diagrams and flow charts a must.
Understanding of how DMM’s, O-Scopes, and other electronic testing devices are used.
Must have valid driver's license.
Must demonstrate professional behavior at all times when dealing with customers, management and co-workers.
Must have clear, concise and accurate communications skills in English, both verbal and written.
Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk to self or others.
Must maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a professional manner.
Dependable personal transportation to work site is required.

Nice To Haves

Associate Degree or equivalent in automotive technology or electronic related field.
Experience in engines/powertrain dynamometer testing or other similar testing techniques.
Basic background in engine electronics troubleshooting
Horiba analyzer experience
Exhaust sample flow experience
Understanding of instrumentation used in an automotive test environment, such as pressure transducers, thermocouples, accelerometers, etc. are highly preferred.
Good interpersonal, computer, oral and written skills.

Responsibilities

Installation, troubleshooting, and repair of Emission related components.
Building electrical cables, repairing electrical connectors, and modifying electrical breakout boxes.
Calibrating and maintaining emission testing instrumentation, such as, smoke meters and opacity meters.
Supporting development and durability special testing and troubleshooting in an engine dynamometer facility.
Interfacing with Technologists, Product Engineers, and Supervisors on updates/new test procedures, equipment and methods.
Verifying the calibration and maintenance of test equipment and test systems.
Hooking up instrumentation, diagnosing/troubleshooting problems, conducting tests, changing out components if necessary, and removing instrumentation as needed.
