(NYSE: APD), a Fortune 500 industrial gases manufacturer, has an immediate opening for a skilled Instrumentation and Electrical Technician to join its team in Kingsport, TN.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • A two-year Associate degree in instrumentation technology or a related technical field is preferred, and/or at least three years of experience as an Instrumentation Maintenance Technician in a petrochemical or manufacturing environment
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to accurately document information
  • Strong troubleshooting and fault isolation skills
  • Familiarity with maintenance management systems and basic office software
  • This is a safety-sensitive position.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a safe work environment and demonstrate leadership in all company and industry safety processes to prevent injuries; ensure accurate documentation of safety-related activities
  • Report all safety and environmental incidents and near misses occurring on site
  • Follow lockout/tagout procedures and actively participate in issuing safe work permits for maintenance tasks
  • Maintain, repair, troubleshoot, and calibrate electronic and digital process control equipment, including loop equipment, low-voltage systems, and control circuitry (e.g., pressure, temperature, level, and flow instrumentation; pneumatic controls; analyzers; solenoids; limit and proximity switches)
  • Read and interpret blueprints, P&IDs, single-line electrical drawings, ladder logic, and wiring schematics
  • Use test and calibration equipment such as pneumatic, RTD, mA, and thermocouple calibrators, as well as digital/analog multimeters, meggers, and laptops for equipment communication
  • Use computerized systems to enter and retrieve data
  • Troubleshoot and repair Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), either independently or in coordination with engineers and system experts
