About The Position

This posting is for the EMU152H1 - Instrumental Trumpet course, an introductory study of the trumpet. The contract is for the academic year, from September to December 2026 and January to April 2027. The salary for this position is $10,197.42. The estimated course enrollment is 12 students per section, and there is no TA support provided.

Requirements

• Graduate degree in music education, music performance or equivalent professional experience
• Experience teaching trumpet to beginners in a school, private lesson or class setting
• Extensive knowledge of pedagogy, methods and repertoire for student trumpet performers
• Demonstrated excellence teaching trumpet pedagogy at the university level

Responsibilities

• Define course objectives
• Prepare course materials
• Provide clear guidelines on course requirements and regulations
• Teach classes as scheduled
• Administer and evaluate student assignments
• Prepare and submit final grades in accordance with policy
• Maintain reasonable hours of student consultation outside scheduled class hours
