About The Position

The Instrument Technician will perform each essential duty satisfactorily. This role primarily involves working in the field on control, topographic, boundary, and all other surveys as an Instrument Technician of a two or three-person field crew at an assigned worksite. The position requires the ability to work with employees, managers, and supervisors throughout the corporation, as well as various external customers, vendors, consultants, and governmental regulatory officials.

Requirements

  • Must be experienced in controlling the function of surveying instruments and calculators.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Cut and remove brush and undergrowth for line-of-sight.
  • Performs mathematical calculations and field checking of field data.
  • Read and understand plans and specifications.
  • Know basic sources of measurement errors.
  • Dig ground using a pick, shovel, and other hand tools to search for and locate survey monuments.
  • Hold and plum rod in obtaining elevations and distances.
  • Drive stakes to set grades on construction projects.
  • Provide quality customer service.
  • Know, understand, and demonstrate safe working/operating methods of assigned tools and equipment.
