About The Position

As an Instrument Technician, you will be at the forefront of innovation by providing hands-on technical support to operations and site equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient plant performance. You will collaborate closely with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams to improve equipment integrity, reliability, and on-stream performance.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Ability and desire to develop instrumentation skills through on-the-job training and external coursework with the goal of achieving certification or a degree within a defined timeframe.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-based environment with strong organizational skills.
  • Solid computer skills with the ability to complete electronic documentation.
  • Basic math proficiency, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills with a commitment to safety.
  • Ability to use instrumentation test equipment, hand tools, and power tools.
  • Ability to read and follow verbal and written instructions, manuals, and procedures.
  • Physical ability to read small print, distinguish colors, and perform work requiring manual dexterity and coordination.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree or higher in an instrumentation-related field, electronic technology, or equivalent military electronics training.
  • Experience in the instrumentation field, preferably within the petrochemical industry.
  • Ability to read and interpret interconnection diagrams, process and instrumentation diagrams, loop sheets, and schematics.
  • Experience with wiring, panel construction, and troubleshooting electronic and pneumatic control systems.
  • Knowledge of computerized control systems, software, and instrument control system interfaces.
  • Instrumentation, metrology, and calibration experience, including ISA Certified Control Systems Technician (CCST) certification.

Responsibilities

  • Install, repair, troubleshoot, and maintain instrumentation and pneumatic and electrical devices across the site.
  • Perform calibration, testing, adjustment, and documentation for instrumentation and International Organization for Standardization (ISO) equipment.
  • Conduct loop checks, identify operational variances, and update drawings and documentation as needed.
  • Analyze root causes of equipment and process issues and provide feedback to improve job plans and reliability.
  • Adhere to all Environmental, Health, Safety, and Security policies while proactively identifying and mitigating workplace hazards.
  • Complete all required documentation accurately and on time, including time sheets, calibration records, and SAP entries.
  • Operate tools, test equipment, and mobile equipment such as forklifts and lifts to safely complete assigned work.
  • Communicate job status and priorities effectively with the Work Coordinator and supervision.
