About The Position

The Instrument Technician will work primarily in the field on control, topographic, boundary, and all other surveys as an Instrument Technician of a two or three-person field crew at an assigned worksite. The role requires the ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The position involves working with various internal and external stakeholders, including employees, managers, supervisors, customers, vendors, consultants, and governmental regulatory officials.

Requirements

  • Must be experienced in controlling the function of surveying instruments and calculators.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Cut and remove brush and undergrowth for line-of-sight.
  • Performs mathematical calculations and field checking of field data.
  • Read and understand plans and specifications.
  • Know basic sources of measurement errors.
  • Dig ground using a pick, shovel, and other hand tools to search for and locate survey monuments.
  • Hold and plum rod in obtaining elevations and distances.
  • Drive stakes to set grades on construction projects.
  • Provide quality customer service.
  • Know, understand, and demonstrate safe working/operating methods of assigned tools and equipment.
