About The Position

Turner Industries Group is seeking an Instrument Technician for maintenance work in Pasadena, Texas. Per diem and relocation are not available, and the successful candidate must currently live in or near the area. The position involves 40 hours, with overtime and call-outs as needed. A valid driver's license is required, and candidates must pass a drug screen and safety council requirements. The technician calibrates electronic and pneumatic instrumentation in the field and control room and installs instrument loops. Duties include receiving, inventorying, and cataloging instruments for calibration; setting up calibration and loop files; checking instrument-loop installations; coordinating or assisting with loop checks, including computer checkout when required; and maintaining installation and completion records. The role also includes maintaining loop drawings, installing air and control tubing, and supporting startup in accordance with startup procedures. The technician inspects meters, indicators, and gauges for abnormal fluctuations and tests the accuracy of flow meters, pressure gauges, temperature indicators, controllers, radiation counters or detectors, and other recording, indicating, or controlling instruments to identify defective components. The technician removes defective instruments, decontaminates, disassembles, and cleans them, replaces defective parts, lubricates instruments, and replaces defective wiring and tubing. Work takes place at industrial construction sites, primarily outdoors. The job may involve uneven or obstructed access, confined areas, work at low or high elevations, varied noise levels, extreme weather, humidity, rain, and potential exposure to chemical substances. Physical demands include climbing and balancing on ladders, scaffolds, and structures; handling tools and materials; lifting 30 to 50 pounds; and standing, sitting, walking, pushing, pulling, bending, kneeling, crouching, and crawling.

Requirements

Three to five years of experience.
Knowledge of steam trace tubing.
Valid driver's license.
Must pass a drug screen and safety council requirements.
Knowledge of calibration procedures, calibration equipment, and test equipment.
Knowledge of field instruments, control room instruments, computers, and startup.
Ability to follow oral and written directions, plans, and blueprints.
Ability to apply basic mathematical skills and recognize and report safety hazards.
Must be a current resident in or near the Pasadena, Texas area; per diem and relocation are unavailable.
Ability to meet the described physical demands, including lifting 30 to 50 pounds and working at elevations and in confined areas.

Instrumentation degree or NCCER Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

Calibrate electronic and pneumatic instrumentation in the field and control room.
Install instrument loops and check their installation.

Follow established procedures and standards and recognize and report safety hazards.
