This is a full-time position primarily focused on weekend work, with some shifts during the week. The Instrument Specialist will adhere to safety standards, handle soiled and sterile items, identify and report equipment malfunctions, and perform quality testing. A key part of the role involves operating and troubleshooting various types of instrumentation, including general, laparoscopic, robotic, orthopedic, neuro, plastics, dental, cardiovascular, ophthalmologic, power, implant, and loaner instruments. The specialist will also perform flexible scope processing using High Level Disinfection (HLD), prepare and use necessary supplies for assembly, and ensure instruments are clean and functional. Packaging and labeling instrumentation according to standards, understanding weight limits, and managing vendor-owned items are also responsibilities. Additionally, the role requires determining sterilization equipment functionality, operating, monitoring, and maintaining sterilization processes, and performing both high temperature (steam) and low temperature (gas plasma, ethylene oxide, chemical) sterilization.
