About The Position

The Sociology Program at OSU-Cascades in Bend, Oregon, invites applications for one or more fixed-term, non-tenure-track Instructor positions to teach on a term-by-term basis during the 2026–2027 academic year. The program provides undergraduate education across most standard fields of sociology. Instructors foster critical thinking and advance students’ knowledge and skills by teaching courses that serve students in degree programs, providing an intellectual foundation in the discipline.

Appointments may be reviewed annually for renewal or transition to an instructional position at the discretion of the Dean of Academic Affairs. Applications will be considered throughout the academic year as opportunities arise. Anticipated start dates for term appointments are December 16 or March 16; the listed anticipated appointment dates are December 16, 2026, through June 15, 2027. Work schedules may vary depending on student needs and engagement in campus or program activities. Salary is commensurate with skills, education, and experience.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Sociology or a related field.
• Ability to teach courses that advance students’ knowledge and skills in the discipline.

Nice To Haves

• PhD or terminal degree in Sociology, Political Science, or a related field.
• College- or university-level teaching experience.
• Strong commitment to undergraduate education, equity, and service to students.
• Demonstrated ability to design, teach, and assess courses that support inclusive learning principles and promote equitable teaching practices.

Responsibilities

• Administer and teach Sociology courses on a term-by-term basis.
• Complete course assessment processes and continuously improve teaching effectiveness.
• Participate in advising and mentoring students.
• Advise students, be available for office hours, maintain records, and complete minor administrative tasks.
