About The Position

The Sociology Program at OSU-Cascades in Bend, Oregon, invites applications for one or more fixed-term, non-tenure-track Instructor positions to teach on a term-by-term basis during the 2026–2027 academic year. Some appointments may be reviewed for renewal or transition to an instructional position annually at the discretion of the Dean of Academic Affairs. Applications will be considered throughout the academic year as teaching opportunities become available.

The program provides undergraduate education across most standard fields of sociology. Instructors foster critical thinking and advance students’ knowledge and skills through teaching discipline-specific courses, providing an intellectual foundation for students. Courses serve students in degree programs.

Appointments may be full-time or part-time. Work schedules may vary depending on student needs and engagement in campus or program activities. The anticipated appointment start date is December 16, 2026, or March 16, 2027; the posting lists an anticipated end date of June 15, 2027. Salary is commensurate with skills, education, and experience.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Sociology or a related field.

• PhD or terminal degree in Sociology, Political Science, or a related field.
• Teaching experience at the college or university level.

• Demonstrated ability to design, teach, and assess courses that support inclusive learning principles and promote equitable teaching practices.

Responsibilities

• Administer and teach Sociology courses on a term-by-term basis.
• Complete course assessment processes and continuously improve teaching effectiveness.
• Advise and mentor students.
• Be available for office hours.
• Complete record-keeping and minor administrative tasks.
