About The Position

This is a full-time temporary position for an Instructor in Psychiatric Nursing at the Regina Campus, Faculty of Nursing, Health Sciences and Community Services. The role involves teaching, coaching, and supervising nursing students in various settings, evaluating student progress, and participating in curriculum development and program activities. The position requires a Baccalaureate Degree in Psychiatric Nursing, Nursing, or a Diploma in Psychiatric Nursing with a degree in a related field, along with active registration with the relevant nursing college. A minimum of three years of recent and relevant clinical/teaching experience with a focus on mental health is required, along with strong communication, interpersonal, and instructional abilities. The instructor will also need to demonstrate competence in using technology and valuing diversity.

Requirements

  • Baccalaureate Degree in Psychiatric Nursing, Nursing, or a Diploma in Psychiatric Nursing with a degree in a related field.
  • Active registration in good standing with the College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Saskatchewan (CRPNS) or College of Registered Nurses of Saskatchewan (CRNS).
  • Minimum of three years recent and relevant clinical/teaching experience with a focus on mental health.
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written).
  • Effective interpersonal skills and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective instructional ability.
  • Ability to apply the theory, practices and principles of psychiatric nursing, medical nursing, and adult education.
  • Small group facilitation skills and leading, modeling and teaching interaction skills.
  • Ability to arrange, maintain and evaluate resources.
  • Understanding of copyright process.
  • Ability to function as a team member in an ever-changing environment.
  • Demonstrated competence and recent experience in the use of the internet, e-mail, MS Office Suite software and ability to learn and adapt to changing technology.
  • Demonstrates valuing diversity.

Responsibilities

  • Teach, coach and supervise nursing students in classroom, lab and mental health clinical settings.
  • Evaluate student progress and provide feedback.
  • Participate in the development, maintenance and revision of curriculum.
  • Work closely with the Psychiatric Nursing Program Head and other project team members.
  • Participate in program, Campus, Saskatchewan Polytechnic, industry and professional or other stakeholder activities.
