About The Position

This position is a nine-month faculty position responsible for preparing and delivering quality instruction in Physical Health Education. The role involves teaching courses on-ground at the assigned campus/instructional site/work location, with potential assignments in other instructional delivery modes (online, hybrid, web-enhanced) from the assigned location based on operational needs. Faculty are expected to work a minimum of 37.5 hours per week, including teaching a minimum of 15 hours and holding office hours. Collaboration with Course Leads, Department Chair, and Dean is essential to ensure consistent student experiences. The instructor will utilize the college’s learning management system, provide updated syllabi, and maintain regular communication via college email. Responsibilities include completing required reports, providing academic advising with an emphasis on retention and success, and remaining current in the teaching area through professional development. Active participation in committees and collaboration in building relationships within and beyond the institution are also expected, along with engaging in departmental institutional effectiveness activities and complying with all college and TBR policies and guidelines.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree or higher in Physical Sciences or a related field
  • First Aid and CPR Certification

  • Knowledge of and experience teaching using a variety of instructional delivery modes.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively and collaboratively with a wide range of faculty, staff and student population.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and relevant instructional technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Perform job duties from the assigned campus/instructional site/work location.
  • Teach courses on-ground at the assigned campus/instructional site/work location.
  • Teach other instructional delivery modes, such as online, hybrid or web-enhanced, from the assigned campus/instructional site/work location, based on operational needs.
  • Within a minimum workweek of 37.5 hours, faculty are expected to teach a minimum of 15 hours and hold office hours.
  • Work with Course Leads, Department Chair, and Dean to ensure consistent and equitable student experiences.
  • Utilize the college’s learning management system to provide accurate and updated course materials to students.
  • Submit updated and accurate syllabi prior to the first day of class.
  • Regularly check College email and departmental mailbox.
  • Respond to emails/messages within 24 hours, except on the weekend.
  • Complete all required reports such as attendance, Early Alerts, progress reports, grade submissions; administer and return questionnaires and student outcome assessments by the required deadlines.
  • Submit final grades for each semester by the deadline established by the registrar.
  • Provide academic advising to students with an emphasis on retention and success.
  • Remain current in the teaching area(s) through appropriate professional development activities.
  • Actively participate on committees within the School of Business and Professional Studies and college-wide committees.
  • Collaborate in building and maintaining relationships within and beyond the institution.
  • Engage in departmental institutional effectiveness activities.
  • Comply with all college and TBR policies and guidelines.
