About The Position

Kansas City Christian School (KCC) is seeking a passionate, faith-filled K–9 Physical Education Teacher to join their community. This role involves delivering engaging, developmentally appropriate physical education instruction to students from kindergarten through 9th grade. The teacher will focus on building motor skills, fitness, teamwork, and sportsmanship through a biblical worldview, emphasizing bodies as God's creation and physical stewardship as an act of worship. The position requires designing active, inclusive lessons for a wide range of ages and abilities, fostering healthy habits, and using assessment to track and communicate student growth. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Physical Education, Kinesiology, Health Education, or a related field (required).
  • Current state teaching license or ACSI certification (required).
  • CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Strong Christian faith and active participation in a local evangelical church; able to provide a reference.
  • Commitment to integrating faith and learning in meaningful ways.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to build strong partnerships with families.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience teaching physical education across elementary and secondary grades (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement engaging, standards-aligned physical education instruction for students in grades K–9, scaffolding skills appropriately across a wide developmental range.
  • Design active lessons and units that develop fundamental movement skills, fitness, coordination, and age-appropriate sport concepts.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners, including those with individualized learning plans or varying physical abilities.
  • Integrate Biblical truth intentionally throughout instruction, helping students see their bodies as God's design and physical stewardship, discipline, and teamwork as expressions of faith.
  • Foster perseverance, healthy competition, good sportsmanship, and a lifelong love of physical activity.
  • Establish a structured, nurturing gym and outdoor environment grounded in Christ-centered values and clear safety expectations.
  • Use positive behavior supports and developmentally appropriate expectations for both young children and older students.
  • Cultivate a community where every student, regardless of athletic ability, feels known, valued, included, and encouraged to grow.
  • Use formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress in motor skills, fitness, and physical education concepts.
  • Track and analyze student growth to inform instruction and support individual development.
  • Communicate effectively and consistently with families regarding student progress, participation, and class expectations.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to strengthen curriculum alignment and student outcomes across grade levels.
  • Coordinate or support school events such as field days, fitness assessments, and athletic activities as needed.
  • Participate actively in professional development and schoolwide initiatives.
  • Model the mission, vision, and core values of Kansas City Christian School.
  • Support students' spiritual development through prayer, Scripture, and Christlike modeling.
  • Encourage the social-emotional growth of students across a broad age range, from early childhood through early adolescence.
  • Identify and respond to individual needs in partnership with families and support staff.
