About The Position

The Faculty of Nursing, Health Sciences and Community Services at Regina Campus is seeking an Instructor for their Paramedic Programs. This full-time temporary position involves planning and facilitating learning programs at all three levels of the Paramedic Programs. Responsibilities include providing tutorial and counseling assistance, facilitating labs, skill practice, small groups, and lectures, evaluating teaching effectiveness, and revising curriculum. The role may also encompass Practicum Coordination for hospital and ambulance sites, developing and maintaining community partnerships, managing learning environments, and participating in program initiatives. The instructor will act as a liaison for students and preceptors, assist with paperwork and evaluations, and establish/maintain external and internal relationships within the health education and polytechnic communities.

Requirements

Completion of an ACP (advanced Care Paramedic) program from an approved school.
Valid Practicing License with Saskatchewan College of Paramedics.
A minimum of two years’ experience as an EMT-P/ACP or five years’ experience as an EMT/PCP
Current Instructor level certification in International Trauma Life Support (ITLS) and Basic Life Support (Heart and Stroke Foundation).
Current Provider level certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Pediatric Education for Pre-hospital Professionals (PEPP).
Understanding of and ability to apply basic principles and practices of adult education to assist learners with the required emergency health care knowledge and skills.
Well developed interpersonal and communication skills including excellent written and oral presentation skills and an ability to develop and maintain productive working relations with instructors, program administrators, employers, students, other clients and the public.
Experience facilitating students in a precepted practicum.
Demonstrated competence and recent experience in the use of the internet, e-mail, MS Office Suite software and ability to learn and adapt to changing technology.
Ability to function as a team member in an ever-changing environment.
Demonstrates valuing diversity.

Responsibilities

Plan/facilitate the delivery of a learning program or course at all three levels within the Paramedic Programs including: providing tutorial, counselling assistance; facilitating labs, scenario skill practice, small groups and lectures; evaluating course/program and result of teaching process; and revising/maintaining curriculum.
Practicum Coordination for both hospital and ambulance practicum sites.
Develop and maintain community/agency partnerships.
Manage the learning environment in both classroom and practicum settings.
Participate in Program and School related initiatives.
Act as a practicum liaison for Paramedic students and preceptors, assisting with completion of paperwork or evaluation.
Establish and maintain external relationships with counterparts from other educational institutions, simulation lab professionals, vendors, representatives of the community, health industry and health education leaders, nationally and internationally.
Establish and maintain internal relationships within Saskatchewan Polytechnic.
