About The Position

Contributes to the university’s mission through teaching and service, with some variation by academic unit. Supervises and teaches residents and medical students in classroom and clinical settings. Works in close conjunction with the Orthopaedic department chair and PM&R faculty to develop a long-term PM&R division strategic plan. Provides patient care in the inpatient and outpatient settings affiliated with a Level 1 Trauma Center. Performs outpatient procedures including injections, ultrasound, and EMG. Develops rehabilitation protocols at the UMC of El Paso Hospital for patients requiring rehab services. Engages in the advancement of scientific knowledge through research and/or scholarship. Serves the academic community through participation in committee work and other administrative duties. Contributes to the community through academically-related public service complementary to the institutional mission. Ensures compliance with HIPAA and billing regulations. Adheres to institutional and departmental policies and procedures. Demonstrates professionalism in accordance with the Paul L. Foster School of Medicine’s Declaration of Faculty Professional Responsibility. Upholds and promotes the value-based culture of TTUHSC El Paso. Bilingual in English/Spanish.

Requirements

  • Board certification by the American Board Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation for the rank of Assistant Professor or higher
  • Emerging or established regional or national reputation for the rank of Associate Professor or higher
  • M.D. or D.O. Degree
  • Successful completion of an ACGME-accredited residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation
  • Texas medical licensure or eligibility for medical licensure in Texas
