About The Position

The College of Arts and Humanities at Lindenwood University invites applications for an Instructor or Assistant Professor of Theatre. Qualified applicants will possess a MA (MFA preferred) in Theatre, a sub-field, or a closely related field with specialization in Technical Theatre and Theatre Design. The successful candidate will be expected to teach 2 courses (6 credit hours) each semester of coursework in the Theatre curriculum. Preference will be given to candidates with experience teaching online. All Lindenwood faculty members are expected to advise and mentor students, continue to develop their expertise through research and scholarship, and participate in faculty governance and campus life. The Instructor or Assistant Professor of Theatre is a full-time, 9-month faculty position that will begin August 13, 2026. Review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled. We seek an enthusiastic teacher, as well as a committed and highly collaborative colleague, whose background demonstrates an ability to support students' development as they prepare for many different careers both within and outside of traditional theatrical fields. In addition to 12 hours per academic year of instruction, this position will receive 12 release hours per academic year for technical duties and student mentoring in the production of the program's 4-show season. These duties will be primarily in the areas of scenic design and construction.

Requirements

  • MA (MFA preferred) in Theatre, a sub-field, or a closely related field with specialization in Technical Theatre and Theatre Design.
  • Experience teaching at the college level is required.
  • Knowledge of / experience in lighting and stage management would be advantageous.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Canvas (LMS), CAMS (SIS), and Workday (EIS).
  • Ability to use phones, fax machines, printers, scanners and copiers.
  • Stamina to teach classes as required.
  • Ability to stand or sit for extended time periods.
  • Ability to meet on-campus requirement for classes and duties that are designated as such.
