About The Position

The Operations Management Program in the School of Professional Studies at the University of Kansas Edwards Campus invite qualified scholars and professionals with experience in operations management to submit applications that will be reviewed by the faculty and placed in a pool for consideration for part-time Instructor positions. An Instructor teaches an undergraduate level course either in-person or online. Instructors report to the Director of the Operations Management Programs. Instructors are instructional members of the faculty and are not eligible for tenure or promotion in rank. Primary role is instruction with no obligations to perform research or service. Instructors are placed in single term appointments, with renewal based upon unit needs and funding as well as performance that meets expectations, not to exceed two continuous semesters. This position is subject to a collective bargaining agreement between The University of Kansas and United Academics, United Academics of KU, AAUP, or AFT. UAKU is the exclusive representative. Due to complex state employment laws, the University of Kansas may be unable to hire fully remote workers for this position outside of Kansas. Requirements

• Master’s degree in operations management or other approved terminal.
• Minimum of five years of professional experience.
• Two years of supervisory experience.
• This position requires a formal degree in the cited discipline area(s) to ensure that candidates have advanced knowledge, analytical skills and professional competencies necessary to perform the duties of the position.
• The level of degree is commonly recognized as the standard qualification for similar roles in the public and private sector, ensuring that the university remains competitive with industry aligned practices, enhances collaboration with external partners, and supports the delivery of services and programs that meet professional and market-driven expectations.
• The successful candidate must have appropriate authorization to work in the U.S. before employment begins.

Nice To Haves

• Doctorate level degree in operations management or a closely related field.
• Evidence of prior success in teaching, preferably both in-person and online (e.g. course evaluations, supervisor ratings).
• Experience with a learning management system, a classroom lecture recording system, and live inclusion of remote students.
• Certifications or credentials in the related area of expertise.

Responsibilities

• Plans, prepares and presents lectures for one undergraduate or graduate course in operations management based on an approved course syllabus.
• Develops assignment, projects and exams.
• Supervises projects, evaluates student work and provides feedback to students.
• Maintains office hours as necessary to meet students' needs.
• Maintains technologies, including a learning management system and a classroom lecture recording system.
