About The Position

Emory University is seeking an Instructor of Medicine for a one-year selected and salaried Chief Resident position within the Division of General Internal Medicine, Department of Medicine at Emory Hospital Midtown. This role involves a variety of academic and administrative responsibilities, primarily serving as a liaison between residents, faculty, hospital, and clinic staff. The chief resident will facilitate communication, disseminate information, and assist medicine residents in understanding and complying with residency policies and procedures. This position also requires the chief resident to act as a role model through active teaching and by fostering an atmosphere of cooperation among residents.

Requirements

  • Selected and salaried chief resident position.
  • Must be able to perform position tasks in-person at an Emory University location.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as an intermediary/liaison between residents and faculty, as well as hospital and clinic staff.
  • Aid in the communication process between groups and help in the dissemination of information.
  • Assist medicine residents in understanding and complying with residency policies and procedures.
  • Serve as a role model through active teaching and assisting residents.
  • Maintain an atmosphere of cooperation among all residents.
  • Devote between 1% and 25% of total professional effort to scholarly activities, which may include authorship of manuscripts, participation in research studies, abstract presentations, and professional blogs.
  • Devote between 1% and 25% of total professional effort to teaching, which may include occasional lectures, small group and bedside teaching, preceptorship, and mentorship.
  • Devote between 1% and 25% of total professional effort to professional service, such as committee work, administrative service, conference organization, peer review, limited patient care activities, and other citizenship activities.
