About The Position

The School of Communication & Mass Media is seeking an Instructor of Communication for a nine-month, non-tenure track position. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses in Communication, with expertise in Public Relations, Strategic Communication, Interpersonal Communication, or Organizational Communication. This role is eligible for potential conversion to a tenure-track position after a successful performance review and completion of a terminal degree. The university emphasizes profession-based learning, career placement, and a vibrant learning community with numerous student organizations and resources.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Communication
  • Evidence of effective teaching and/or industry experience in strategic communication or PR
  • Energetic individuals committed to the shared vision of a multi-discipline professional school who will make a significant and ongoing contribution to our dynamic and progressive programs.

Responsibilities

  • Teach 24-26 credit hours/year of communication courses during the fall and spring semesters
  • Advise students and work with student organizations
  • Participate in departmental and university governance
  • Teach one or more sections of the university’s general education hybrid communication course
  • Participate in research/scholarly activities that meet or exceed school standards
  • Perform other duties as assigned
