About The Position

The Department of Anthropology and Sociology invites applications for its temporary, part-time Instructor of Anthropology pool. Applicants selected for the pool may be offered assignments to teach one or two undergraduate courses per semester, depending on departmental instructional needs and course availability. These are temporary appointments and are not permanent or tenure-track positions. There is no guarantee of a teaching assignment in any semester, and opportunities for future assignments are dependent on departmental needs. Candidates for searches must have current authorization to be employed in the U.S. without employer sponsorship. Applications will be held on file for one year.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Anthropology from an accredited institution.
  • Current authorization to be employed in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Anthropology from an accredited institution and demonstrated excellence in teaching anthropology at the postsecondary level.
  • Experience in teaching in-person and online classes.
  • Area of specialization (as evidenced by coursework or teaching experience) congruent with departmental course needs.
  • Commitment to high-quality teaching is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Teach a variety of undergraduate courses, such as Introduction to Cultural Anthropology, Archaeology and Culture, and Introduction to Biological Anthropology, in either online or in-person formats during the fall and spring semesters.
  • Course assignments will vary based on departmental instructional needs and course availability.
